Phase IV:
Standing Buildings Evaluation
March 25, 2016

Standing Buildings experts John Sanders (pictured) and Tom Addyman (core team member) visit Elanvow to detail needed repairs to the castle tower.

Projects
What we are now labeling as Phase IV work is really an extension of the Phase III work to complete all surveys and prepare specific recommendations for repair work on the castle tower at Elanvow.   It seemed appropriate to give these efforts their own phase given the elapsed time.  The Good Friday Expedition (March 15, 2016) finally broke the year-long  stalemate with the Loch Lomond weather and our team of Standing Buildings experts, Tom Addyman and John Sanders, made it out to the island.  With John's additional expertise and keen eye, the team detailed recommendations for repairs on the tower and vault (cellar) masonry.   These recommendations will be a key part of the next planned Scheduled Monument Consent request to Historic Scotland.

This trip was funded entirely by the Board of the EVPF ... saving our "asks" for future donations for the actual repair work.  Thanks to Tom and John for taking time from their very busy schedules.  We are exceptionally fortunate to have these renowned experts on the team.  Thanks to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and Myles Maydew for providing transportation to the island and continuing to be a critical part of this team!
